Invisalign seems like a dream come true in comparison to traditional braces. There are, nevertheless, certain guidelines for wearing and maintaining your Invisalign aligners. We’ve compiled a list of dos and don’ts to help Invisalign users understand how to take care of their aligners properly throughout their treatment.

Take out the trays before you eat

When you wear Invisalign, there are no limitations on what you can eat. But how you eat is a different story. The most important guideline is that you have to take off your clear aligners before every snack, meal, and beverage. Water is the only substance that can be consumed while using trays. Otherwise, you run the danger of shattering your trays with the force of your biting and chewing motions or discolouration or stinking them. Additionally, food particles will find their way in between the aligners and teeth; if they remain there for an extended period of time, they may settle and lead to tooth decay.

Put a pause on sipping

No matter how much you love drinking coffee, soda, or energy drinks, any liquid other than water has the potential to stain your trays. Making the braces invisible is Invisalign’s entire goal. Transparent braces’ attractiveness will be lost if you continue to sip all day long.

Be sure to brush your teeth

You must brush your teeth more frequently and thoroughly when you have braces. With Invisalign, you don’t have to spend your time tediously cleaning in and around brackets and wires, but you still need to properly wash and floss your teeth after every meal to remove any food particles that may have been stuck around. The last thing you need is for decay to appear in the space between your tightly fitted trays and your teeth.

Avoid leaving your trays in the open

Keep your Invisalign case handy whenever you remove your trays. Because the aligners are transparent and difficult to see, they could easily be thrown away if they were wrapped in a napkin during dinner to keep them out of the way. They might be washed if you put them in your pocket. If you just wear each set of aligners for two weeks at a time, you don’t want to have to worry about having to spend money on many replacement sets. Your treatment will take longer to finish the alignment the more often your trays are missing or damaged.

Do have the end goal in mind

Any orthodontic procedure requires dedication. It’s acceptable to take a little break from Invisalign when you feel like you can’t bear to keep the aligner trays any longer. This will allow you time to gather your thoughts and keep the end goal in mind: straight, healthy teeth. A gorgeous, straight smile is simple and discreet to attain with Invisalign. This alignment technique has several advantages, and they outweigh any drawbacks you may experience along the way.
